NJIT undergrads Andrew Harrison and Matthew Bischoff designed an iPhone app that now ranks as the 15th best seller on Apple’s app list. Quotebook is an app that can be used to store and share favorite quotes, song lyrics, jokes and snippets of conversation. Harrison, a junior and Information Technology major, wrote the code and Bischoff, a sophomore and Human-Computer Interaction major, designed the interface. Recently, Apple invited the two NJIT students to its upcoming conference to present Quotebook and to participate in a panel discussion around the impact of mobile devices and apps on the American education.
Quotebook is just one example of ways that our students are applying classroom knowledge to the real-world and shaping the virtual landscape. The field of computing changes every minute. NJIT needs the resources to teach a broad range of computing disciplines, to carry out cutting-edge computing research, and to work closely with industry. The NJIT Annual Fund provides critical resources that sustain NJIT’s reputation for innovation in on-line communications. Your support of the Annual Fund today will help ensure that students like Andrew Harrison and Matthew Bischoff learn the fundamentals they need to be innovators in their fields after they graduate. With each graduating class, NJIT is producing the next generation of innovators.
